A blizzard warning is in effect for Tahoe Basin and Donner Pass Monday through Wednesday. I do not recommend traveling.

A storm warning has been issued for the entire Lake Tahoe area Monday through Wednesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, a blizzard is defined as heavy snowstorms, winds in excess of 35 mph, and visibility of less than 1/4 mile.

The Tahoe area will receive 4-6 feet of snow Monday morning through Wednesday morning at elevations above 7,000 feet. Expect wind speeds of 55 mph and 100 mph at higher elevations. The region will see up to 18 inches of snow ahead of Sunday’s expected storm.

Carson Pass, Donner Pass, and Echo Summit can expect up to 7 feet of snow Monday through Wednesday, and up to 2 feet on Sunday.
