The Brunswick County spot made it onto Travel Guide’s list of the nation’s best beach towns.
TripSavvy named Sunset Beach 4th among the 18 best beaches in the country. According to TripSavvy, Sunset Beach is famous for its picturesque coastline and dreamy sunsets.
In addition to beaches, we rated towns on a number of factors, including shopping, dining, entertainment, and nearby attractions such as historic lighthouses and nature reserves.

For Sunset Beach, the highlight was Bird Island Preserve, a barrier island of over 1,200 acres with crystal-clear shoreline and towering dunes. At Bird Island Reserve, visitors can stroll along the coast to access the Kindred Spirit mailbox, where they can write down their thoughts, stories and dreams.
The travel guide also mentioned The Boat Landing Restaurant, a casual fine dining spot on the waterfront. Visitors can enjoy staples such as po’ boys, fried oysters, and crab dip.

The town is also home to the Ingram Planetarium and a museum and gift shop of the old one-lane swing bridge, which was replaced by a two-lane span in 2010.
Sunset Beach is one of three beach towns in North Carolina. Emerald Isle was 10th and Nags Head was 15th. South Carolina beaches Dawfsky Island (2nd) and Myrtle Beach (9th) also made the list.
Gulf Shores in Alabama topped the list.
