Applied skills students at Carroll Elementary School competed against their principal in a paper plane competition on Thursday.
Carroll Principal Robbie Goodman, who arrived at the school earlier this year, came up with the idea as a way to connect with students.
“And I heard they were into paper planes,” he said. “So[I]came in a few days ago and challenged them. ”
After building the paper planes, the students gathered in the hallway outside the classroom and threw the paper planes end-to-end in an attempt to win Goodman’s throw.
A few students were successful, and Mr. Goodman handed out prizes of balsa wood airplanes for the students to decorate and build.
