For those who were wondering what was going on near the old Tops store in the city of Dunkirk earlier this week, answers were provided just before the recent Dunkirk City Council meeting this week.
Dunkirk City Law Enforcement Officer Ryan Moeller said in a text message that the current construction work is for the entrance of a future Five Below store to open in town. Dunkirk city deputy secretary Kyle Coughlin acknowledged the suspicions of various board members when prompted to deliver Mr Moorer’s message before the meeting.
The building in question is owned by Benderson Development. Adjacent to the Harbor Freight Quality Tools store on Vineyard Drive in the square of the former Tops store and across the street from the new Tops store, Kirk’s Jewelers and a variety of other local businesses.
Five Below is a discount store focused on items under $5. Currently, the closest Five Below store is in Hamburg. Other nearby locations include Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Rockport and Erie, Pennsylvania.
