Biden says he’s ‘not responsible’ if U.S. defaults

President Biden has declared that he bears no responsibility if a crime is committed. country defaultblames the “MAGA Republicans” and claims they derailed the negotiations.

Speaking at a news conference in Hiroshima about the debt ceiling conflict, Biden said far-right Republicans were trying to undermine the U.S. economy by triggering defaults in the run-up to a 2024 re-election.

“I did my part,” Mr. Biden said of negotiations with Republicans after months of insisting there was no discussion of the debt ceiling. “It’s time for the other side to change the team’s position because a lot of what they’re proposing is frankly unacceptable.”

Asked by Fox News’ Peter Doocy whether the president would be “not guilty” if the U.S. defaulted, Biden agreed.

“Of course no one will blame me. I know you won’t,” he joked. “They’ll say, ‘Biden did a great job.

“Based on what I’ve provided, I would be innocent on merit,” Biden added.

But the president said politics: behind the scenes negotiations I mean, no one would really be “not guilty” of claiming that a MAGA Republican would use it to tarnish his image.

“I think some of the MAGA Republicans in the House know the damage it does to the economy,” he said. ‘I think it’s going to take a lot of money’ “‘And that’s the only way to keep Biden from getting re-elected.'”

A potential plunge in the US economy plagued much of Mr. Biden’s visit to Japan during the G7 economic summit. He told reporters on Saturday to shut up when pressed about the issue.

Despite the president’s claim to broker a deal between Republicans and Democrats on the debt ceiling, negotiations have stalled.

With negotiations stalled, Republicans are demanding further cuts to the US budget, which Democrats fear will be harmful to the American people.

Democrats, on the other hand, want higher taxes on the wealthy, while Republicans oppose it.
