Focus on startups at Sweets & Snack EXPO

food entrepreneur CHICAGO — Ten emerging snack and candy brands will pitch to a panel of retailers at the Sweets & Snacks Expo May 22-25 at Chicago’s McCormick Place.

The event will include two ‘5X5’ sessions, each with a 5 minute presentation from 5 startups. Attendees can learn about new innovations and hear feedback and tips from buyers and category managers.

Back at the Sweets & Snacks EXPO, Startup Street is a designated area for businesses up to 3 years old. Startup Street exhibitors will receive entries to the Most Innovative New Product Awards, a spot in the featured product showcase, a listing in the directory, and discounted exhibit space. Concepts on display include wine-infused chocolates, cauliflower puff snacks, barbecue-smoked potatoes and corn chips, and globally inspired sour gummy candies.

More than 800 exhibitors are expected to attend the event, nearly 250 of which are first-time attendees, according to the National Confectionery Association, which hosts the event each year.
