Actress Ella Hunt – Someone You Know Dickinson and Lady Chatterley’s lover – While she may be better known for her on-screen performances, she’s also made quite a name in the fashion world thanks to her stylish wardrobe.
“My style depends a lot on my mood,” Hunt tells me from New York. “I feel like a chameleon at times. Fashion can be like Marmite to me. either strongly for or against
Below, the actress talks about her New York Fashion Week look, her love of power suits, and why fashion isn’t frivolous.
Tell us about your look for today’s show
“I wear a classic trouser suit with a halter neck, double wrap waist belt and high heels, very sophisticated style. I love the sexy androgynous power suit. I feel very relaxed in public. “Like cheeky love affairs. Having your shoulders back makes you feel better in situations where you might not always feel comfortable otherwise.
What makes Michael Kors fit your style so well?
“They are great at playing with classical tailoring. As a brand, when I moved to New York they were the first to invite me to their event. I didn’t know anyone.” They are a very kind and supportive family, so I love working with them.
How involved are you in the styling process?
“My stylist Sarah [Slutsky Tooley] We have a great time working together. Together we act like dizzying fashion fairies. We have worked together for 5 years so at this point she can read my mind, knows my tastes and understands well when I want something different or changed. I’m here.
“It’s great to work with someone who can transform my tastes into the outfits that I feel best in. She makes fashion fun. You don’t have to take it too seriously – Sarah and I always look to classics with a playful twist, like this suit.”
What kind of outfit makes you feel the most confident?
“Most of the time, I feel most confident in a pair of ripped blue jeans and Doc Martens. When I go to an event, my go-to boots or a twist on a classic tailored suit. I wear a lot. I love the messy, playful look of Acne Studios, I feel so relaxed in their clothes, they tap into their more anarchic and messy side, so I love this It goes back and forth between two realms.”
How has your style evolved over the years?
“When it comes to my public persona, a lot of trial and error and learning what makes me feel good in pictures and standing in a room full of people I don’t know. Learning what makes me feel.” It’s been a real process, I’m confident, and I’ve evolved over the last few years. Now I feel like I’m in a place where I can be playful and know there are house rules about what makes me feel good and what doesn’t.
“Working with my charming team who have become dear friends and make me feel great before going to a show makes a huge difference. My makeup artist Carolina Derry and I have been working together for several years. [my relationship with] Sarah can read my mind and knows what makes me feel good. The part before the event is my favorite. ”
How did your confidence grow on the red carpet?
“The red carpet is so intimidating and that’s what I still feel at events. And then there are times when I feel totally fine. Is it something to do with what I’m wearing, or is it just where you are in your menstrual cycleIt really helped me to learn how to pose so that I wouldn’t hate myself for photos later.
“I finally accepted that everything is fleeting. One moment is here and the next is gone. That’s fine. I’ll wear something.’ ‘Otherwise, next time. That matters in the moment, but mistakes are part of the fun. I really like fashion, so approaching it at ease makes everything more enjoyable.”
What’s your most memorable fashion moment from the last few years?
“While I was pressing Dickinson For Season 2, I wore two Saint Laurent outfits with these awesome thigh-high latex boots. I had just had my hair cut off and it felt like a moment of being born again.
“I wore two Acne Studios outfits to an Oscar-related event last year. I layered the fluffy stilettos I designed for I wore another Acne See it with another pair of knitted boots with a chiffon dress; The first is a stunning tulle Prada dress. Dickinson I’ve never felt so Fairy Princess in my life with the Season 3 premiere. ”
What is your ideal preparation setup?
“Having a good playlist or album playing in the background is essential for me. We always have Feist’s ‘Let It Die’ album playing. I like it when it lights up and makes me feel good. It’s possible.”
What style do you always admire and why?
“Audrey Hepburn has been and always will be the biggest style icon to me. She’s an amazing person. Rooney Mara looks great on the red carpet. Harry Styles is amazing of course.” His stylist, Harry Lambert, who also works with Emma Corrin, looks great.”
Fashion has a reputation for being frivolous, so why does it matter what we wear?
“Fashion is our conversation starter. Whether you think it or not, it’s the first thing you say to the world in the morning. Choosing what we wear is political and a source of joy.” For many years, especially in the last 100 years, fashion has been at the heart of contemporary art and has had a huge impact on the world.
