‘Great man’ Colby Covington brought food for ‘breaking’ teammate Temba Golimbo during UFC Vegas 73 training camp

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Colby Covington is a “great” caring teammate, according to Temba Golimbo.

Golimbo earned his first UFC win last night (Saturday, May 20, 2023) at UFC Vegas 73 by defeating UFC veteran Takashi Sato via a commanding unanimous decision from the inside at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. He became the first Zimbabwean fighter to win inside the Octagon.

The last three months have been very tough and very stressful for Golimbo. He lost by submission to AJ Fletcher in his UFC debut in February (see the highlights) and after his loss he lost many people including friends and family.

“I want to be honest. It may be true for some people, but the truth must be told as it is, whether you love me or hate me. It’s true.” But after the game, I was worried that the coaches were going to a party or something, and I was alone in that room, crying,” Temba said. mixed martial arts mania said in a post-match media interview. “Everyone somehow drifted away. Right after we lost, when we went home. Everyone. [looked at me] Like a fucking stinky guy. You know, people were ignoring me. The people I helped ignored me. Many people, including those close to me, call me my friends…even my own brothers. i love my brother Because my brother inherited my blood. But you have to tell me the truth. Doing too much for others hurts a lot. Brother, I do a lot for people. People may not say it, but I do a lot for my people back home. And I hope the Lord will forgive them for what they did to me. ”

After the loss, Golimbo changed coaches and flew to Miami to train at the MMA Masters. The problem was that he had little money. The 32-year-old revealed he has $7 in his bank account for fight week at UFC Vegas 73.

With little money to live on, former UFC interim welterweight champion and current title challenger Covington brought Golimbo food during his stay at the MMA Masters.

“Colby Covington, he’s a really great guy. Colby Covington would bring food to Jim sometimes,” said Golimbo. “People say what they want and they want to avoid him, but he’s a great guy. To know him, you have to know him. Just like me…you know.” And the end of the day is business.”

In “The Answer,” he said he would consider moving from Africa to Miami if given the chance. Golimbo won the show and the prize money, so he didn’t have $7 left in his bank account after UFC Vegas 73, which will no doubt help his eventual transfer.
