San Antonio – The annual Turkish Food Festival is back! This year, hosted by San Antonio’s Raindrop Foundation, the event is dedicated to the victims of the deadly earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

“One of my friends’ wives was devastated to hear that five family members died that day,” said Ferhat Ozturk, event coordinator for the Raindrop Foundation.

Unlike most events that solicit funds or other needed donations, the Raindrop Foundation offers a unique opportunity.

All proceeds from this event will be donated to victims with direct ties to San Antonio.

“We had three families who really lost loved ones in the earthquake,” says Ozturk.

Ozturk said that now the community here in Turkey is doing what they can to give back.

“The menu is very extensive, so there are starter dishes and main dish dishes. I also like the gyros here because they are so different from restaurant gyros. They are handmade,” said Ozturk.

Ozturk said you can donate on their website To all who are associated with San Antonio and who are affected.

“Some of the families who lost relatives are here too, so please ease their grief,” Ozturk said.
