San Diego County public health experts say XBB.1.16 is a new variant of the Omicron subspecies that has been reported to be associated with itchy and watery eyes and could soon become a local novel coronavirus infection. He said it could account for a larger share of those infected.
This new variant, informally called “Arcturus,” has become prevalent as the level of COVID-19 has increased. generally fell across the county so far this year.
