Every Tuesday for the past seven months, starting at 7:00 a.m., 20 students 2023 Business Week at Illinois State University College of Business perfectly.
A tradition of the College of Business for the past 44 years, Business Week is a week-long event that immerses students in professional development opportunities.
This year’s Business Week takes place February 20-24 and features keynote speakers, seminars focused on transitioning from college to corporate life, professional development dinners, equity, diversity and inclusion workshops, college The Hall of Business induction ceremony will be held. .
Business Week lasts five days during the spring semester, but the Business Week team has been planning since August. Business Week Her President Tori Her Posca attended Business Her Week for the first time as a freshman. She then joined the planning team as a sophomore and has been involved ever since.
“I love everything Business Week stands for and stands for,” says Poska. “It has made a huge impact not only in my life, but also in many of my friends. In this way, there are so many great opportunities within the College of Business through networking with other students, staff and faculty.” I found out.”
Benji Prendergast, Vice President of Professional Development, said: Business Week Mentor Program his freshman year. Prendergast became a mentor during his sophomore year and joined the planning team for Business Week.
Prendergast said, “It’s been really rewarding to be in this program and to see all these professionals and students come out and join our program and celebrate their professional development.” In fact, I have learned so much in this past week alone and brought it into my classes, lectures, work and internships.The experience continues to grow from this week.”
Taking advantage of the professional development opportunities that Business Week and the College of Business offer students, both Poska and Prendergast already have post-graduation jobs. Poska is Ecolab’s marketing and Prendergast is Dell’s sales.
The Business Week team, which consists of an executive team and six committees, also plans events outside of Business Week.Last fall, the team movie talk event consisted of a display of home stretch, a film about homeless teens, followed by a discussion. The group also hosted events on corporate social responsibility, gathering clothing for low-use businesses his professional clothing. This spring, the team is planning his March 1st. business week talk event Ted Talk format for speakers focused on corporate social responsibility.
Students interested in planning for next year’s Business Week are encouraged to apply to join the 2023-24 Business Week team throughout the week. Non-business students are also welcome to apply.
“Participating changed my entire college career and the whole process, both personally and professionally,” says Poska. “My advice is to attend and be engaged.”
