MANSFIELD – The Richland County Foundation Board approved grants totaling $3,468,689 at its February meeting.
Competitive, Area of Interest and Donor Advised Funding Grants Approved by the Board:
The North End Community Improvement Collaborative Community Impact Center received a grant for a new mixed-use facility serving youth, adults, and seniors. The Impact Center hosts NEIC’s housing and community development programs, minority business assistance, supportive social services, youth and adult employment and workforce development, and commercial kitchens.

Space will be leased to provide direct services such as healthcare, legal and financial services.
The YMCA of North Central Ohio received a grant for an indoor/outdoor sports complex in Belleville. The complex has multipurpose areas for soccer and other sports such as basketball, volleyball and pickleball. The building houses a fitness area, sports medicine, coffee shop, food service, and sporting goods retailer.
The Ronald McDonald House in Central Ohio received a Helping Hands Program grant.
Families with critically ill children admitted to the National Children’s Hospital may stay at the Ronald McDonald House while their child receives treatment. This grant helps cover expenses for families in Richland County.
Four Career Technical Education Scholarships have been approved for students to qualify at technical institutions. The Scholarships Committee has implemented rolling deadlines for CTE scholarships to accommodate various admission opportunities.
In line with Ohio’s goals, the foundation wants to help bridge the gap between job openings and qualified employees and lead the way in supporting workforce development through CTE scholarships.
Richland County high school graduates and current college students are eligible to apply for College and Career Technical Education Scholarships.
New applicants, including high school seniors, must have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5 and returning applicants must have a GPA of at least 2.0, attend an accredited school, and live in Richland. Must be a county resident or a high school graduate. The deadline for applying for college scholarships is April 1st.
The Board has approved grants from donor-advised funds that give individuals, families, and businesses the opportunity to submit grant proposals to their favorite charities.
Donor Advised Funds are a flexible and convenient alternative to private foundations. It’s also a way to keep charitable donations anonymous, at the donor’s preference.

The Board allocated grants from donor designations and institutional funds. Agency funds are set up by charitable organizations and are either endowed or non-endowed. The institution benefits from the foundation’s professional asset management, which allows the institution’s staff and board to focus on serving its constituents.
Designated Funds provide annual support to charitable organizations of the donor’s choosing. They offer the added benefit that if the organization ceases to exist, the foundation is responsible for ensuring that the donor’s original intentions are met in searching for a new suitable organization.
