st. George —This young entrepreneur started his first business at the age of four to finance his goat farm. S.Years later, he’s still working on it.

Rock Fanene, 11, owner of both Rock’s Garden + Home and Field and Court, told St. George News it all started with organically grown plants. When he was only four years old, he grew plants, put them in wagons, and hauled them around the neighborhood to sell them.

Three years later, at the age of seven, he began making his own concrete pot designs from recycled formwork and adding succulents to create a succulent garden. Under the name Rock’s Garden and Home, he sold his rustic creations at his downtown Farmer’s Market, which he says was a big hit. His favorite planter is a Gravity Bowl that spins and tilts without spilling.

“I have loved plants from the beginning,” he said. “Funky pots and plants that are fun to make from scratch. And everyone loves them.”

Rock’s Garden and Home was created for the sole purpose of funding his own goat farm. Proceeds from his business allowed him to purchase high quality Champion his goat line. The farm, now in Washington Fields, also raises ducks and chickens.

Fannen’s mother, Melinda Fannen, said her son used to sell a lot of pots at the local market until the coronavirus epidemic. “I learned a lot about succulents,” Rock Fannen said of working with Moss and Timber. “Like when the leaves fall off, you just put them on the soil and water them, and the dead leaves start to grow roots. Succulents are really cool.”

Rock Fannen said that now that he owns “a lot of goats,” his business supports his sports career, which consists of football, basketball and baseball. “The goal and theme is basically ‘Let’s be great,'” he said. “I mostly ask what they would say to young athletes in sport and life. And there were a lot of really good responses like ‘Don’t give up.

Rock Fannen said many people feel depressed and his goal with his videos is to cheer them up and focus on the positive. We interviewed an athlete, two Utah players, an NFL player, a baseball influencer, and more.

But that’s not all.

In line with his sports career and his field and court brand, Rock Fanene recently took the opportunity to create his own sports line called The Grip, derived from a friend’s mobile phone accessories brand. His sports line features photos of his balls in a variety of sports, including basketball, football, and baseball. The smartphone grip can be used as a stand to prevent your smartphone from being dropped, etc., and it lays flat on the back of your smartphone so that it fits easily in your pocket.

“My passion for sports grew and I decided to create a lot of sports so that I could make money while doing what I love,” he said.

As for future goals, Fannen said he is focused on excellence in sports, with football being his favorite and basketball a close second. Outside of sports, he wants to stay focused on his business.

“We are homeschooled, we travel all the time, we are always adventuring in life,” his mom said. “We are a family of entrepreneurs and we want him to have that passion.

Mellynda Fanene says her son has learned to speak respectfully to adults in the market and how to be a salesman. As he interviews more athletes, his communication skills continue to improve.I have two younger brothers who are always watching my older brother, and I am also learning how to communicate with maturity.

“All the businesses I did were big bucks,” Rock Fannen said. “But the best part of owning a business is running something of your own.”
