Richmond. Va (WRIC) – The United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg has launched a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program that provides assistance at his 12 locations in Central Virginia.
This program helps eligible individuals and families with an annual income of less than $60,000. united way provides a team of IRS-certified tax attorneys and volunteers to those seeking assistance. United Way also offers coaching services for people earning up to $73,000 a year.Email if interested tax@yourunitedway.org.
United Way interim president and CEO Angela Otto said many people who use United Way’s tax assistance services make less than $25,000.volunteers help low-income individuals and families Apply for income tax credits that help get money to “households who need it most.”
VITA’s Richmond store in The Sacred Heart offers assistance to Spanish and Portuguese speakers. In 2022, VITA volunteers helped him file over 2,000 tax returns and collected approximately $3 million in tax returns. Information about location times and programs can be found at United Way website.
According to Cara Cardotti, director of United Way’s tax assistance program, the VITA program has been helping community members since 2002. VITA also provides Virginia residents with tax assistance website.
