of Will County The Department of Health will host a series of mobile food banks starting Monday.
The Northern Illinois Food Bank Mobile Market is in the parking lot of the Department of Health’s headquarters at 501 Ella Ave. Joliet 10am to 11:30am
The mobile market will return to the same place on May 24th, June 1st and June 30th at the same time.
“Anyone in need of food assistance can receive food items free of charge,” the Ministry of Health said in a news release. “No ID, paperwork or pre-approval required. Distribution is first-come, first-served and will end when supplies last.”
People can stay in their cars while picking up groceries at drive-thru mobile markets.
“Fighting food insecurity is important because it can directly impact physical and mental health,” said Will County Health Department Executive Director Elizabeth Bilotta.
Citing food bank network Feeding America, the Department of Health said Will County had more than 38,000 “food insecure” people in 2021.
