Will Smith to star in PUBG Mobile developer’s latest survival game

Undawn, a new free-to-play survival RPG from the developers of PUBG Mobile, is set to release on iOS, Android, and PC later this year. You can expect the usual free-to-play antics to play out here, but developer LightSpeed Studios seems to be doing everything in their power to get Will Smith into the game. is.

The trailer for the movie above shows Will Smith’s Trey Jones shooting down a few zombies before heroically marching into a desolate city that looks just like a scene from I Am Legend. ing. It’s rare to see a celebrity appear so prominently in his free-to-play mobile game, but I’ll leave it up to you to decide what this means for Will’s Smith career.

Beyond celebrity appearances, Undawn seeks to offer PUBG Mobile’s open-world gameplay with some PvE survival elements. The game’s description is full of phrases like “huge open world,” “unique ecosystem,” and “variety of weapons,” and says little about gameplay. However, the game is packed with a lot of details, as you can see from the screenshots.

From these in-game images, it’s clear that Undawn is designed for mobile, even though it launches on PC as well. The UI is reminiscent of PUBG Mobile, covering the screen with buttons for every action, but controller support has yet to be announced.

Undawn has all the free-to-play traps we’ve come to expect, including pre-registration rewards that unlock in-game items. You can also share the pre-registration link to unlock weapon skins. This is the same system we have seen several times before. This is unfortunate as these promotions usually indicate that the final game is mostly microtransactions disguised as gameplay (see below) street fighter duel, tomb raider reloaded). However, there’s certainly room for a fun survival RPG if Lightspeed Studios doesn’t get in the way of their greed.

At best, Undawn can be a way to mow down zombies and have a good time with friends, but at worst, it’s just a microtransaction nightmare. But hey, at least Will Smith is in it, right? Undawn is available for pre-registration now and will be released on June 15th.
