Call of Duty fans are hyped for this year’s brand-new installment and there are some good reasons for that. Activision’s upcoming premium offering will bring back many popular and iconic elements from classic games in the series. Especially, when it comes to some of the beloved online modes.

While Modern Warfare III is already confirmed to have a War Mode from 2017’s WWII, there happens to be another unique mode a section of fans would love to have. Interestingly, it’s also directly connected with the original Modern Warfare 3 from 2011. Well, it’s none other than the Survival Mode.
Is Survival Mode coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III?

In case anyone hasn’t really experienced it in MW3, more than a decade ago, Survival Mode basically features players going against waves of A.I. controlled enemies. They keep getting increasingly difficult with each new wave. This mode was available as a game type under the Special Ops mode. In its entirety, Survival Mode was an arcade-like experience. One can also compare it with round-based Zombies mode from Black Ops franchise as it also includes hordes of the undead.

Unfortunately, Activision hasn’t really shared a word on the comeback of Survival Mode. Which means players won’t likely see it in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.
Had it been announced for this year’s entry, it would have given the players an extra option to have more fun within the game. Nevertheless, there are other surprises in MWIII they can look forward to, such as exciting maps from classic CODs.

Old COD maps are coming back with Modern Warfare III
Yes, they are returning with Sledgehammer Games’ project in 2023. A total of 16 remastered maps from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2 will be revealed in the game at launch. They all will be available to play immediately. Here is the list of all the maps fans will be witnessing in the upcoming installment –

Some of the aforementioned maps are expected to be in next month’s Open Beta as well. However, it’s not yet confirmed which maps will be available to try for the players. Modern Warfare III’s Beta will kick off on October 6 and will run till October 16.
